HOW DID YOU PUBLISH YOUR BOOK?
Back in January 2020, I started my journey with the Creator Institute, which is a program run by Professor Eric Koester meant to help budding authors write and publish a book from start to finish. I had already been writing my book for a while at that point, and knew this opportunity was one that I had to take.
WHO IS YOUR PUBLISHER?
New Degree Press, which is a small hybrid publisher located in Maryland. They do lots of work with new authors and have a great staff of editors and designers who helped me through the publishing process.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE AND PUBLISH YOUR BOOK?
I wrote my first rhyming poems in 2016, and published my book in 2020. So, it took me 4 years to write and publish, though the publishing process took a whole year alone.
WHAT WAS THE HARDEST PART ABOUT GETTING YOUR WORK PUBLISHED?
Making edits... by far. Over the course of my publishing journey I had five editors, all who made large changes to my work at different points in the process. Accepting these changes was once thing, but implementing them was a whole different challenge.
